A Cheaper Way On How To Clean Laptop Screens

By Harley John

In these days, people have chosen to own a laptop over a desktop computer. The benefits are obvious. It is portable, can be used anywhere and very handy especially by people who are always on the go. A business presentation is a breeze with the aid of a laptop.

In this modern world of computers and everything instantaneous, we often hear about LCD screens. LCD stands for liquid crystal display. In layman’s term, it is that screen that we normally see on our computer and laptops.

The LCD screen of your laptop is considered an output device. It has indeed done a million things for us and it is but fair to take care of it. Remember the very first days you set your eyes on your squeaky-clean laptop screen? 1. Make sure that your laptop is turned off and there are no more electrical connections. Remove the battery.

2. Use mild cleaning solutions. The best would be distilled water. Never use tap water to avoid mineral spots from appearing on your screen. If your screen requires a more serious attention, you may add white vinegar with water at a 50/50 ratio. Put the solution in an atomizer bottle. It is not recommended to use the eyeglass lens cleaner as it may contain ‘Isopropanol’, an alcohol that is a common ingredient in many industrial solvents.

3. Get a soft cloth, a microfiber cloth is best recommended. Spray the solution on the cloth. Never apply the cleaning solution directly onto your screen. Also, do not use paper towels as they are made of fibers from wood which may damage your screen.

4. To be sure, it is advisable to test on a small area of the screen first. Make sure that you apply just enough solution on the cloth to avoid dripping. Any drip may cause damage on the electrical connections on your computer. Better be safe than sorry.

5. Wipe your screen from left to right but do not put much pressure. Do not press or scrub hard, as these can definitely do harm on your screen. Remember that you are not in a hurry and this is the time you pay back your screen after all those long working hours you shared together.

6. Dry your laptop screen with a different piece of the microfiber cloth. Make sure the entire surface is dry and no cleaning solution is left.

As much as possible, do not use the same cloth that was used in cleaning other laptop screens. A cloth used in previous cleaning session may have accumulated contaminants during storage which could seriously harm an expensive laptop screen. You may opt to buy cleaning kits readily available that come with instructions on how to clean your laptop screens. Whichever you choose, remember that cleaning your laptop’s screen is way of taking care of it which that is often neglected. Clean it as often as required. Imagine a better looking screen will mean a better computing experience for you. Let us make sure that we do it with care so as not to defeat its very purpose.
